MINUTES OF 67th IAPM Kerala Chapter Meeting held at
MES Medical College ,Perinthalmanna,on 13th Aug 2011.
The inaugural function started at 9.25 am with prayer, followed by obituary to Dr.T.K.G.Nair. The Welcome address was given by Dr.Geetha Gopal, Professor & HOD, Department of Pathology,MES Medical College. This was followed by Inauguration of the Meeting by Dr.C.Sadasivan Pillai,Dean,MES Medical College. Dr.Mujeeb Rahman, Superintenden,MES Medical College,and Dr.V.Jamaludheen,gave felicitations. Dr.C.P.Muthukrishnan,Secretary,IAPM Kerala Chapter gave the Presidential addres on behaIf of Dr.Sankar President IAPM Kerala,who could not come due to certain unavoidable circumstances .Dr.Asiq Sideeque.N, Associate Professor of Pathology,MES Medical College, delivered the vote of thanks.
Dr.Ranjith Sukumar,Consultant Endocrine surgeon, MES Medical College, gave the guest lecture on "Thyroid lesions-Evaluation,interpretation and management" .
This was followed by the Business meeting after a short Tea break.
The members observed silence for a minute in memory of Dr.T.K.G.Nair.
The following matters were discussed and decisions were taken.
1.The Venue of the 68th IAPM Chapter Meeting was decided to be at Govt Medical college,Trivandrum, with proposed date as 11th Feb 2012..Dr.C.P.Muthukrishnan was selected as the Organizing secretary .Dr.Geetha.S Professor of Pathology, Travancore Medical College,Quilon was selected as moderator for the next slide seminar on Lesions of the Uterus.
2. Dr.Muthukrishnan informed the house,that IAPM can't register as a separate academic body ,as per the discussion with Dr.D.K. Mishra,IAPM Secretary.Members requested to find some other means to deal with the matter.
3.When it was informed that the loan given to Trichur National CME was refunded,Dr.Joy Augustine announced to donate a sum to the National CME Fund.
4. Discussion regarding the next convener for Prof.Ramachandran memorial award exam turned into a debate. Dr. Mathew argued to change the duration of covener to 1 yr from the present 3 yrs.Many supported him. Finally decided to select the the convener confidentially for every year by the IAPM officials.
5A discussion was held on the cancer registry programme . Mr.P.Gangadharan,Chief of cancer Atlas of kerala,gave a slide show about the Cancer Atlas of kerala and explained the structure and organization. Many expressed anxiety regarding the funding and running of the programme .
The business meeting was followed by Slide seminar on "Lesions of Endocrine organs" which was moderated by Dr.Supriya.N.K,Professor,Dept of pathology,Govt Medical college, Kozhikode.14 cases were presented. Each case was discussed elaborately . The diagnoses and presenters were
